Wine tasting to benefit Community AIDS Network

Akron-On Thursday, December 1, there will be a wine tasting fundraiser benefiting the Community AIDS Network. The event will be held at the Thomastown Party Center, 1300 Triplett Blvd. in Akron from 6:30 until 9:30 p.m.
Scheduled to coincide with World AIDS Day, the wine tasting event will feature an array of fine wines provided by Chris Studer, owner of the former Studer's Wine Side at Northside. Wines will be available for purchase. To complement the featured wines. a variety of hors d'oeuvres and desserts will be served. In addition, a selection of a dozen donated gift baskets valued at more than $100 each will be raffled during the evening.
The chair of the event is Barbara Baskin and committee members include Pete Nervo, Jolm Greer, John Grafton, Randy Morris, Bev Smith, Jerry Larson, Dale Harding, Brian Masuga and Libby Wilson.
Reservations for the event are $50 per person and can be made by calling the office of Community AIDS Network, 330-375-2000, or by sending a check to Community AIDS Network, 1950 McTaggart Dr., Suite 105, Akron, Ohio 44320. Without reservations, admission is $60 at the door.
Community AIDS Network serves Summit. Medina and Portage counties and provides community education and outreach, HIV testing, risk reduction programs for targeted populations, operates and staffs the local AIDS Hotline and offers permanent supportive as well as transitional housing opportunities for those who are HIV-positive..
